Privacy Policy
Draft, last updated 30 October 2026. To be checked before The Mostess is released.
Who we are
The Mostess is responsible for the information described here. You can contact us about it at [email protected].
What we keep
Your name or initials and those of your helpers; your household's events, tasks, menus, wines, resources and shopping list; saved dishes, with any recipe links, files and photos you add; guest households' names, the number of brothers and sisters and which events they came to; ratings and notes you add after an event; any feedback you send; and the name and email address you sign in with.
Phone numbers and allergies
Phone numbers and allergy details are sensitive (allergies are health information). They are kept only on the phone or computer where they were typed in and are never sent to our shared database, so other members of your household don't see them. They are deleted automatically once an event is archived, unless that household is also coming to another live event.
Why we keep it
Only to run the app for your household: planning events, sharing out tasks and building your guest book. We don't sell your information or use it for advertising.
Who can see it
Only the people in your household. A helper you send a one-event link to sees that event's jobs and nothing else. Our hosting provider (Google Firebase, with data held in London) stores the shared information for us securely.
How long we keep it
Until you delete it. Archived events stay in your guest book until you delete them. You can delete your account at any time in the app (☰ → About → Delete account), or by emailing us. If you set up the household, that deletes the household and everything in it, files and photos included; otherwise it removes you and your sign-in, and the household's information stays for its other members. How to delete your account.
Donations
The app is free to use. If you choose to donate, your payment is handled by a separate payment service. We don't see or keep your card details.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how it's used. Email [email protected]. If you're unhappy with how we handle it you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Guests' information
If you add details about guests, please make sure they'd be happy for you to keep them for planning, and only add what you need.
